Job Description

The organization's risk management structure is designed to promote effective governance and risk management that is systematic, transparent, credible, timely, and verifiable through clear delineation and execution of key roles and responsibilities.

The Data Protection Specialist will support the European Deputy Data Protection Officer, this role sits within the second line of defence. The purpose of this role is to assist in provisioning an effective European Data Protection and Privacy Framework to Elavon and US Bank European entities. The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a central point within the organisation to provide timely privacy related advice and guidance to key stakeholders

  • Assist in ensuring the organisations European Data Protection and Privacy Framework is effective and in line with regulatory requirements and expectations

  • Assist in the development and maintainence of policies, standards, processes, and guidelines

  • Promote a robust Data Protection culture by assisting in designing and implementing training and awareness plans

  • Work with Business Lines to monitor compliance requirements

  • Act as a conduit between Data Protection Supervisory Authorities, on behalf of Business Lines

  • Have a good understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) and exposure to international data protection and information security legislation

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in the field of data protection and privacy, preferably in payments services and/or financial services

  • Familiar with European Data Protection Legislation

  • Professional qualification/certification in data protection /law is required – CIPP/E is preferable.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial/payment services, and regulatory trends, in particular European and national data protection and privacy requirements

  • Advance user in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)

  • Basic knowledge of Risk Management Frameworks

  • Strong process facilitation and project management skills

  • Effective presentation and relationship building skills

  • Well-developed analytical skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient computer navigation skills, particularly word processing, spreadsheet, databases, and presentations
