About the Role. This role involves working with Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Division, focused on
- Underwriting, structuring, and executing the leveraged transactions that support Corporate and Sponsor clients across diverse range of industries within Wells Fargo’s Leveraged Underwriting Group
- Closely work alongside Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Sponsor Coverage, and Capital Management teams to originate and execute new transactions
Functional Responsibilities
- Work with US team members to build financials models and historical financial analysis (key credit metrics analysis) to assist senior bankers in diligence related to complex credit requests
- Assist onshore team in the preparation of underwriting materials through analysis of credit data, historical financial analysis, industry data, relative value analysis etc
- Independently manage a portfolio of companies, covering earnings, credit events, annual reviews etc.
- Strong excel skills with the ability to create complex visually appealing charts distilling high levels of information into a chart format
- Review and summarize aspects of due diligence
- Understand and respond to the queries raised by the Onshore underwriter and work in a fast paced and iterative manner
- Monitoring & tracking financial performance, borrower business model/future strategy, industry developments and impact of macro-economic events on the overall market for the portfolio of covered client set across industries
- General understanding loan structure, debt instruments, capital structure and credit documentation
- Strong stakeholder management skills as the team would be working closely with other teams during the various stages of the projects, ad-hoc special projects as needed by onshore team
- Mentor junior analysts on basic and fundamentals of credit risk, underwriting & internal control and perform quality check on client deliverables
- Contribute to various firm wide projects focused on improving efficiency, automation, regulatory compliance
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Wells Fargo's credit risk policies, risk appetite, and underwriting guidelines
Essential qualifications/ Market skill set
- Outstanding academic qualifications – MBA / MSc Finance from a premier educational institution. CFA would be an added advantage.
- 4+ yrs of experience in Credit Underwriting / Credit risk / Credit Rating
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial concepts
- Knowledge of database tools – Factset, Capital IQ, LevFin Insights, Bloomberg
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PPT
- Knowledge of VBA, Tableau, Power BI etc. would be an added advantage

- Strong inclination towards building a career in Fixed Income and Credit domain
- Good understanding of corporate finance, financial statement, Ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and ability to create in-depth financial models
- Impeccable communication and interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to interact with senior professionals and key stakeholders
- Strong logical, analytical skills and a systematic problem-solving approach
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office Applications - Power Point and Excel
- Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure high quality of deliverables
- Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
- Results driven, accountable and ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced IB environment
