Samsung Environmental Engineer – Industrial & Hazardous Waste Management

Here's What You'll be Responsible For:

  • Develop and maintain hazardous waste standards and specifications for a large quantity generator.
  • Oversight and management of vendor contracts for on-site waste handling as well as off-site hauling and disposal of waste and recycled materials.
  • Utilize technical data management skills to complete and submit compliance reporting for industrial hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of waste storage areas on site as well as off-site facilities.
  • Develop and conduct employee training for proper waste management in each business unit.

Here's What You'll Bring to Samsung:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, civil engineering, chemistry or related.
  • 7+ years' related experience required.
  • Certifications: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and/or Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
  • Knowledge of standards applicable to large quantity generators (i.e. waste stream identification and characterization, 90-day storage requirements, tank system management, and training requirements)
  • Proven experience in managing big data is required, especially quantification and tracking systems supporting regulatory requirements for waste containers from the point of generation to final disposition.
  • Knowledge of BB/CC subpart regulations as well as experience in managing Leak Detection & Repair (LDAR) programs is preferred.
  • Proven track record in ensuring compliance with transportation & disposal management (i.e. DOT regulations, TSDF auditing, emergency response and contingency planning)
  • Demonstrated experience in waste minimization planning and pollution prevention activities at a large quantity generator facility.
  • Familiarity with LEED projects is highly preferred.
