The primary responsibility of the BTS Scientist is to support BTS laboratory functions including preparation and testing of biomaterials and reagents for QC testing, support in method transfers, document support, planning and coordinating own workload and contributing to ensuring the smooth running of their area to meet schedules for release of final and intermediate products.
The function of the BTS Scientist at BTS Upper Hutt falls within the Animal Health Science and Technology department which is part of the manufacturing division.
Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
- Providing support to fermentation and DSP projects and technology development.
- Develop expert reports and scientific reviews for method and process development.
- Preparation, purification and analysis of samples, biomaterials for method development.
- Planning and execution of experiments.
- Planning and organising work to meet project schedules.
Accurately record all test data / observations by:
- Documenting all tasks appropriately in accordance with Good Documentation Practice.
- Peer reviewing work of other team members on procedures in which they are trained.
What You Must have
- Science degree preferably in biological science such as microbiology
- Competency in Mathematics and English (written and oral)
- Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or food preparation facility preferable
- Understanding of process improvement and design of experiment
- Computer Skills: MS Office suite
