As a Maintenance and Reliability Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Provide support for maintenance systems, including utility metering, monitoring building performance and maintenance work order systems.
- Create specifications for purchasing mechanical utility system equipment
- Model energy consumption of mechanical systems
- Provide support for site utility plant and process systems
- Support Plant Engineering as they develop and manage project timelines and budgets
- Successfully interact with multiple discipline teams including 3M Center operations, consultants, suppliers, and vendors
- Communicate effectively to project team, facility staff and project owners
- Troubleshoot steam, chilled water issues in new and existing systems
- Ensure application of applicable codes, standards, and internal guidelines
- Stay abreast of technology advancements in steam and chilled water generating and distribution systems
- Provide on-call support for any emergency or maintenance activity.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or a Technical field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university
- Four (4) years of experience in Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Operations or Utility Plant Operations in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Project experience in mechanical system installation and/or maintenance
- Have 2 years of experience in steam, chilled water, and/or gas distribution
- Have 2 years of experience with high pressure piping systems
- Have experience in utility metering and utility plant operations
- Be proficient in use of project management skills for developing timelines, budgets, and coordination of activities
- Be proficient creating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents
- Be proficient at using electronic tools for design, documentation, and communication
- Function as a team player with the ability to contribute in a matrix environment
