The Office “better together” effort is focused on creating a seamless experience for users working across the M365 ecosystem. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing the user experience, market to the teams responsible for re-imagining the role of design creativity in core productivity and collaboration in M365. You will create deep understanding of both top and bottom of the funnel drivers. You’ll leverage your quantitative skills to drive improvements in metrics and dashboarding, and your mixed methods skills as you evangelize insights through rich storytelling. You’ll work closely with UX Designers, other user researchers, data science, market research, and engineering partners to proactively drive investments in our ecosystem flywheel, and ensure that we’re addressing the most critical needs and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 4+ years User Experience Research experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience

  • OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year(s) User Experience Research experience

    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualification
  • You are eager to learn and understand about diverse audiences, their behaviors, context(s) and motivations – across all phases of the customer lifecycle and user journey
  • Desire to work in-stride with other people: PMs, designers, other researchers, marketers
  • You will need practical and real-world problem-solving skills, as this team moves fast, and your role will be to help unblock barriers in design, build and go-to-market
  • 7+ years of hands-on research and/or product planning experience, with demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data to improve plans and UX in a technology industry setting
  • Experience impacting both product direction through product research and detailed experience design including on products leveraging generative AI for user creativity and design solutions.
  • Enhanced interest and understanding of professional and consumer grade graphic design tools across image and video.
  • Either an MA/MS in computer science, statistics, human factors, psychology, market research or related field, or a BA/BS in one of these fields with significant industry experience
  • Research, storytelling, and organization skills, and the ability to work across teams.
  • The ability to establish a point of view – informed by market and user level insights – and to leverage that to focus and define product strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Build and execute impactful research plan(s) that provide the broad market views and customer insights needed to impact strategy and UX.
  • Define product and audience direction and impact the engineering roadmap using customer data (qualitative and quantitative). Key to this accountability will be identifying gaps and customer pain points, as well as potential customer delighters.
  • Derive insights from quantitative and qualitative data, complementing other research that you will conduct on your own or in partnership with other researchers.
  • Define and measure UX approaches, metrics, and work with core stakeholders on research planning. Innovate and develop new approaches to measure user’s experiences.
  • Land impact broadly from your customer-focused knowledge by working across multiple organizations and their respective engineering, design and marketing teams
