In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Work in the traditional actuarial areas, such as reserving, pricing and capital modelling, but also deploy, which may include projects covering analytics, business steering, capital optimisation, actuarial and finance transformation.
- Assist clients operating in the local insurance market, but also the potential to work across borders, supporting a market leading actuarial team within the UK and European insurance markets.
Your key responsibilities
- Learn how to apply traditional actuarial approaches to reserving and capital modelling
- Assist in the technical delivery and reporting of projects by:
- processing and analysing data to identify trends and insights
- using latest technology and models to understand clients’ data and business
- applying verification and validation checks to your work to facilitate review by senior actuaries
- presenting your work internally to more senior members of the team
- facilitating regular communication with clients contacts
- drafting reports and other client deliverables
- You will be expected to assist on a wide range of projects, including but not limited to independent reserve and audit reviews, capital model validations, as well as non-actuarial led projects for (re)insurance companies
- Assist in responding to client proposals and contribute to the development of tools to support sales-oriented client interaction
To qualify for the role you must
- Have a strong academic record. A degree in Actuarial, Mathematics or other quantitative risk/finance degree is desirable but not essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different client problems to help identify and design a solution.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and an understanding and flair for technical coding (e.g. R, SQL, VBA, Python) would be advantageous however not essential. On the job training can be provided.
- Be an excellent all-round communicator who is able to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently.
