The Gabon Citi Country Officer (CCO) & Banking Head for Citibank Gabon N.A is an integrated senior management-level position, focused on leading the growth and protecting the Citi franchise in the country.
The CCO & Banking Head for Gabonis responsible for:
- Leading all the businesses in the geography with direct accountability for the Banking P&L in CIW.
- Delivering the full value of the network to all our clients.
- Leading Investment, Corporate and Commercial Banking businesses to optimally connect the three, fostering senior relationships with key clients to lead client delivery and revenue growth on the ground.
- Fostering strong regulatory relationships and leading the execution of the Transformation workstreams in Gabon.
- Managing the organization and corporate governance of country-based legal entities and their regulatory reporting, adhering to the Legal Entity Standard.
- Acting as the lead Citi representative in the country and as a single, coordinated face for the local market, which includes the government, regulators, clients, media, community, and employees.
- Promoting a culture of timely escalation, ethics, compliance, and control.

The CCO & Banking Head
is responsible for:
- Leading a franchise-wide client engagement across all local businesses with agility, maximizing the value of the network through active collaboration and differentiating our firm through compelling thought leadership.
- Fostering in-country senior relationships with key clients, government officials, regulators, employees, and media that engender a high level of trust and transparency to support the development of Citi’s market position and growth.
- Ensuring delivery of “One Citi” to clients, driving the collective focus on improving the voice of the client (VoC) across all products.
- Leading Investment and Corporate Banking businesses, to optimally connect them, being directly accountable for the Banking P&L in CIW.
- Maximizing and ensuring delivery of overall client profit and loss and returns within Gabon, with deliberate focus on RoTCE, Shareholder Value-Added (SVA) and Revenue/Risk Weighted Assets as measured in the CIW system.
- Increasing franchise and network client revenues (inbound and outbound), maximizing share of wallet across all products and all client segments (FIG, PSG, Corp, Wealth) with local corporates (L2s) and global subsidiaries (L3s).
- Leading account planning and following through with individual target clients and in aggregate.
- Leveraging and ensuring alignment with Citi’s core client strategy to originate both flow and episodic revenue, focusing on creating Alpha deals across products and sub-products.
- Providing and promoting a wide range of treasury and banking solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, foreign exchange, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, derivatives, interest rate and FX derivatives.
- Allocating capital and credit in partnership with Global Capital Management (GCM) and Independent Risk Management.
- Driving collective focus on transformation and improving the risk and control environment, including issue management, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-wide control initiatives, fostering a culture of escalation, across all products, functions, and legal entities.
- Leading Citi’s response to a franchise-wide event, e.g., crisis or disaster across all businesses and functions.
- Maintaining good health of all legal entities in the country and reviewing their ongoing necessity.
- Taking part in the decision-making process for acquisitions/investments/divestments for proprietary M&A in the country.
- If there is a Board of Directors of a local incorporated legal entity, partnering with board to enable effective working relationships and clear directional understanding with all directors, and with external directors.
Qualifications, Experience and Strengths:
- 15+ years relevant experience in the financial services industry.
- Proven leadership skills and strategic thinking to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities.
- In-depth experience and understanding of banking products, including investment banking offerings (advisory, equity), loans / debt (short and long-term), capital management, cash management, trade solutions, corporate and structured finance, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and hedging solutions.
- Senior Credit Officer (SCO) preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local);
- Previous experience of managing a P&L and overseeing Risk, Controls and Governance.
- Experience in managing medium/large teams across a matrix organization.
- Demonstrated intellectual grasp and understanding of the industry, its evolving trends and client’s top business challenges to drive compelling thought leadership and raise Citi’s share of mind in partnership with the Client Organization
- Relationship management with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to inspire and manage teams, bringing people together to achieve their full potential as ‘One Citi’.
- Ability to drive and foster simplification to achieve efficiency.
- Understanding and translating global/regional strategy.
- Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/University degree.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
