Asia Pacific BESS Segment Solutions Leader – Grid Scale
Position Overview:
As the Asia Pacific BESS Segment Solutions Leader – Grid Scale, you will use your strong leadership and business development skills, deep knowledge of the grid scale battery energy storage industry and the applicable Honeywell solution and associated value propositions to enable the profitable growth of the Battery Energy Storage Vertical in your associated Pole.
The Asia Pacific BESS Segment Solutions Leader – Grid Scale is responsible for benchmarking and evaluating new technologies or new offerings from suppliers to integrate into our solutions. Additionally, the role is responsible for supporting the identification and development of key partnerships in their associated pole. Attendance at key and trade shows and technical conferences and presenting at such events is required when assigned.
Responsibilities:
· Be a change agent - influence, consult, and lead efforts for sharing and standardizing of best-in-class solutions
· Coordinate customer segment focused solutions across various lines of business to act as a trusted client partner, relied on for strategic points of view to drive value-based solutions; facilitate cross SBG engagement at Pole level
· Provide strategic thought leadership and analytic consulting to businesses, sales, and vertical leadership
· Work with the Asia Pacific BESS Business Leader to align and drive the customer segment growth strategy for the vertical in the Pole
· Build strong relationships with key customers in the Pole, relative to the associated customer segment
· Form and manage strategic partnerships with 3rd parties needed to support the new business models
· Define, create, and socialize solutions offerings for industry and sub-industry solutions including supporting collateral (PPT, battlecard), target accounts/clients
· Collaborating with other BESS Segment Solutions Leaders and Offering Management leaders to implement best practices and strategies for the Pole
Basic Qualifications:
· B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
· Five plus years of related technical experience, particularly in the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, grid scale and microgrid controls applications.
· Five additional years of experience as a technical or business development lead, responsible for the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, Grid scale and microgrid controls applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience as a technical or business development lead, responsible for the delivery of BESS and Grid Scale controls projects.
· Experience and solid understanding of how battery energy storage projects are designed and delivered, including how site technical issues are resolved, as well as:
o Solid understanding of Inverters and DC converters as part of BESS projects, including a strong understanding of inverter controls, fast response, ride-thru, PQ curves, AVR, and operational standards.
o Solid understanding of single-line drawings and equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment), system studies and protective relay settings as applicable to behind the meter and front of the meter renewable projects.
o Comprehensive understanding, interpretation, and application of industry standards and grid codes for electrical power systems, as required by customer location, such as National Electrical Codes and other applicable electrical codes.
o Solid understanding of power engineering modeling software ETAP or SKM.
o Solid understand of modelling in Excel, Homer and/or Matlab and simulation result interpretation.
· Experience and solid understanding of Grid Scale, microgrid , renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems controls, energy management systems, and electrical SCADA applications, as well as:
o Knowledge of various control schemes (frequency, voltage, VARS, ride-through, etc.), protection schemes, and regulatory requirements pertaining to grid operations.
o Knowledge of applicable renewable and electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, 1547, NERC-CIP requirements, IEC61850, Sunspec, MESA standards, and LGIA requirements.
o Working knowledge of utility industry communications protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC61580); SEL RTAC programming experience a plus.
o Experience troubleshooting microgrid control systems that are not functioning properly.
o Experience with grid simulation studies and test software to ensure Gridc Scale controls solutions meet customer requirements.
o Capable of programming using function blocks, SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent.
· Solid understanding of energy markets in associated pole and the various use cases for energy storage, for both behind the meter and front of the meter.
· Experience reviewing customer and engineering design requirements and responding to requests for proposals by developing project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimates, and proposal documentation.
· Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to function effectively with minimum support, consistently taking the initiative to get things done.
· Ability to work closely with and influence cross-functional teams in a diverse, global, and multicultural environment.
· Ability to make timely decisions even in the face of complexity and ambiguity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
· Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
