As our Independence Manager within the EY Oceania Independence Team, you’ll support our compliance with auditor independence requirements such as providing independence policy consultation, training, operation / administration of global tools and processes to prevent independence issues as well compliance testing and development of actions for continuous improvement. The Independence Team operates within the Risk Management group of our Central Business Services and serves the Oceania Region covering Australia, New Zealand, PNG and Fiji.

The role requires high energy and enthusiasm and is an excellent opportunity to support a fast-paced business through internal consultations and monitoring compliance with regulatory and EY requirements. You will work alongside an experienced manager group that is focused on doing the right thing for EY and our clients.

Your key responsibilities would include:

  • Manage the performance of the annual personal independence compliance testing of partners and executives, including overseeing the testing performed by our offshore team
  • Perform compliance testing of relevant areas such as services, personal or firm independence.
  • Work closely with professionals in our business to provide advice on the application of auditor independence policies
  • Develop and review independence processes to meet EY Global and local requirements
  • Identify areas for knowledge sharing with professionals so they can understand the more common pitfalls in independence
  • Lead training programs with the business to upskill them on key independence requirements
  • Knowledge transfer to junior staff through on the job training
  • The position holder will perform other responsibilities and tasks as required to achieve the agreed performance outcomes.

  • Knowledge of Risk Management and compliance management principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in risk or compliance, professional services background will be advantageous
  • Customer service mindset and experience in dealing with difficult situations
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with senior stakeholders
