Principal Risk Associate, Technology Risk

As a Commercial Business Risk Office Technology Risk Associate, you will drive strategy and execute on high priority projects for the company in the Commercial Technology Risk area. The successful candidate will be an experienced risk management professional who understands technology functions and organizations, with strong analytical, planning, strategic thinking, organizational and communication skills. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Risk Execution Lead for domains supporting Commercial Technology Risk Assessments and respective software engineering teams to propel technology risk agenda and guide the Leadership Team and project stakeholders to make informed decisions.

  • Focus on Technology Risk for Commercial Assessments including Process Oversight (criticality assessments and process assessment execution), Business Unit RCSAs, and Divisional Risk identification (diagnostics, Inherent risk identification & sizing, Control suite analysis, Residual risk mitigation, and 2nd line engagement)

  • Support risk mitigation plan creation, lifecycle management, and closure

  • Identification and management of risks associated with Division Level Initiatives, Enterprise Wide Initiatives, and New Products

  • Build successful relationships across Commercial Tech, Business Risk Offices and Enterprise Risk teams to understand & drive technology risk management across critical business processes in support of Commercial Technology risk assessments.

  • Leverages reporting & tools to perform analysis on different types of projects, efforts, or datasets & uses data to inform policies and drive change. Understands associated reporting metrics and is able to inform on technology risk.

  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment.

  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience

  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of Technology Risk Management Execution experience including Tech & Cyber Controls Management, Issues Management, Technology Reporting and Audit / Examinations

  • 1+ years experience with Risk Management frameworks, Information Technology General Control (ITGC), or Cloud Governance

  • Cybersecurity and technology risk certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or related certifications

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification, CISSP, CRISC or CISA.


Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist Charlotte, NC: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk SpecialistThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
