Our translation service is seeking a proofreader/editor for French-language documents.
Your key responsibilities
As a member of a dynamic team of more than 50 people, you will be responsible for quality control and linguistic quality assurance on a range of French-language documents translated by colleagues as well as documents from other service lines.
- Proofreading financial documents (funds, financial statements, management’s discussion and analysis) and other types of documents (proposals, PowerPoint presentations, brochures), and correcting spelling, usage, grammar and syntax errors as per French-language conventions
- Thoroughly verifying formatting, checking numbers and ensuring all changes are correctly entered
- Managing several assignments and priorities at the same time
- Building effective communications with clients, and Practice and other service-line colleagues
To qualify for the role you must
- hold a university degree at the undergraduate or graduate level in linguistics, literature, translation or a related field
- have at least three years’ of experience in proofreading/editing in a structured and supervised professional environment (experience in the financial field is an asset)
- be able to work under pressure and under tight deadlines, within a dynamic team of versatile professionals
- have an excellent command of French and a very good knowledge of English, a high degree of rigour and attention to detail
- This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required. Bilingualism in both
French and English is therefore a requirement of this role - be ready and willing to work outside normal business hours, as needed
