Job responsibilities
- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Build Microservices that will run on the bank’s internal cloud and the public cloud platform
- Write test cases, leverage unit and integration testing, develop functionality and automation
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Present and document technical designs, process flows, and procedures
- Work closely with product teams, users, agile leads, and other development teams across the firm to support and deliver highly integrated technology
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcome-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced hands-on with Java technologies/frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Spring JPA/Hibernate, REST based services, etc
- Expertise in Java Core concepts, including object-oriented design, memory management, multi-threading/concurrency, and new language features up to Java 17
- Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Practical cloud native experience
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript, or Angular
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
