As a Software Development Engineer, you will enable the creation of products that drive ever-greater automation, scale-ability and optimization of every aspect of transportation, lowering cost and delivering speed of execution for our customers. You will also identify opportunities and implement changes to improve network’s performance, simplify processes, and leverage existing resources. As part of your responsibilities, you will help the design and implementation of state-of-the-art solution in transportation planning and network design, ensuring that end to end transportation strategies are streamlined and optimized. The impact of your work will be in the Amazon EU global network.This is a 1 year contract.Key job responsibilities
Design and develop tools to automate standardized processes and optimize trade-offs across the full decision space.
Identify and tackle intrinsically hard problems. Deliver artifacts that set the standard in your organization for software development, from designs to data models to implementations.
Improve upon existing methodologies by developing new data sources or architecture enhancements.
Conduct written and verbal presentations to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.Research and benchmark our technology against other competing software in the industry.

- Internship or few years experience in software development
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience with SQL
- Basic experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software development decisions and strategy
