Job Description:

The Senior Specialist – Manufacturing Automation will serve as technical control system SME and mentor as part of manufacturing value team (MVT) member supporting the DeltaV Product technical activities under the Process Control & Instruments Integration Product line. The Senior Specialist is responsible for leading the creation of value enablers for the DeltaV product new implementation and sustenance for worldwide manufacturing sites. These value enablers improve the operations efficiency, control system availability, robustness and performance. Responsibilities also include system upgrades, troubleshooting issues, identifying trends, system monitoring, system administration, Knowledge articles, documentation updates, data querying, responding to questions and participating in problem investigations. Must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) and frequently with local automation teams and other support groups.

• Understand the control systems architecture and control system administration monitoring using standard and customized monitoring tools including associated processes and tracking.
• Analyze complex business requirements using tools and techniques and identifies internal/external solutions to meet these requirements.
• Participate and/or lead investigations of automation anomalies to prevent recurrence.
• Understand and support GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure automation documents, preventive maintenance, periodic reviews, and SOPs are in an inspection-ready state.
• Evaluate automated and information technology systems and develop strategies to optimize and ensure the quality and stability of automation systems through future expansion, replacement, or upgrade.
• Use technical knowledge to assure the efficient operation of a variety of automated processing and information technology systems.
• Lead in developing control strategies and apply computerized tools that will deliver tangible improvements to overall production unit performance.
• Familiar with lean manufacturing principles with an ability to convert business logic and requirements into detailed system requirements.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Sound Experience of DeltaV system upgrades – planning, execution.
• Proficient with Emerson Knowledge Base Articles, Best Practices and Guardian support structure.
• Sound experience with project execution in technical SME role for DeltaV System upgrade
• A high level of innovation, creativity, and self-initiative
• Experience providing technical mentorship.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent organizational skills to multi-task.
• Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Desire and willingness to learn, contribute and lead.
• Familiar with Emerson DeltaV system standards, Knowledge Base Articles, Best Practices, Cybersecurity and Guardian support capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of interfaces (OPC, MODBUS)
• Experience with DeltaV Live, DeltaV hardware componenets includingCharms I/O
• Ability to understand, update, design and analyse code modifications in DeltaV.
• Experience with automation system design, start-up and/or qualification.
• Experience providing project level direction to contractors and/or third-party vendor staff.
• Knowledge of all the details of automation including device selection and integration
• Experienced problem solver/troubleshooter, skilled in root cause analysis
• Ability to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and cGMP documents.
• Familiarity with US and EU GMP and Safety compliance regulations
• Strong analytical thinking and technical writing skills
• Proficient in MS Office Platform

Desired Experience and Skills:

• Project Management experience with demonstrated skills.
• Agile project development practices, Jira, Confluence
• Aveeva PI, Dynatrace, Qualys, Ansible or other monitoring platforms
• S95 model from ERP to shop floor instrumentation and working knowledge of S88 model.
• Strong background in IT systems; specifically, integration of Automation systems with IT systems
• Networking experience; working knowledge of Enterprise Networking and local control networks.
