Required Qualifications:

  • 9+ years technical experience in optical systems, network design, development, and automation
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
    • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
    • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • 4+ years of experience working with large-scale networks
  • 4+ years hands-on experience with optical systems and a proven track record in software development
  • 4+ years demonstrated ability to work within and lead multidisciplinary teams towards achieving groundbreaking technological milestones

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Phd in a relevant field
  • Expertise in Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR) , link budgeting , wdm calculations
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, and Rust
  • Experience with BGP, label switching, fast reroute, and datacenter IP networking, indicating a foundation in networking principles
  • Knowledge and experience in RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access), viewed as a significant asset
  • An understanding of distributed systems and the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions regarding cost, reliability, and performance
  • Experience in firmware development or low-level coding

Responsibilities
  • Drive the integration of switch and optics to develop end-to-end systems dedicated to AI training.
  • Design highly available network architectures for expansive training clusters.
  • Work alongside software engineers to develop sophisticated software and control mechanisms for network orchestration.
  • Facilitate collaboration with AI development teams, ensuring the network can seamlessly support AI training needs through robust software interfaces and API specifications.
  • Lead comprehensive system design efforts, from optical components to switch technology and control software, emphasizing simplicity and scalability.
