Required Qualifications:
- 9+ years technical experience in optical systems, network design, development, and automation
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- 4+ years of experience working with large-scale networks
- 4+ years hands-on experience with optical systems and a proven track record in software development
- 4+ years demonstrated ability to work within and lead multidisciplinary teams towards achieving groundbreaking technological milestones
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or Phd in a relevant field
- Expertise in Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR) , link budgeting , wdm calculations
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, and Rust
- Experience with BGP, label switching, fast reroute, and datacenter IP networking, indicating a foundation in networking principles
- Knowledge and experience in RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access), viewed as a significant asset
- An understanding of distributed systems and the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions regarding cost, reliability, and performance
- Experience in firmware development or low-level coding
