Your Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • User-Centric Visual Design: Interpret research insights and build an understanding of the subject matter to design for user needs and market resonance.
  • Nuanced Communication through Design Elements: Communicate intent and meaning through nuanced use of color, tone, layout, composition, imagery, typography, interactions, and motion.
  • Translating Information into Compelling Visuals: Translate information into visual forms that make it compelling, easier to understand, and actionable.
  • Unified Visual Experiences: Design visual experiences that unify user and market insights while adhering to IBM’s brand/design language.
  • Strategic Implementation: Define and implement strategies to accomplish the design vision and mission, communicating effectively across the organization
  • Workload Management: Scope workload and plan for timely delivery of design projects. Work with multiple stakeholders to recognize opportunities for improving team processes and optimizing the use of time and resources.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Portfolio Showcase Requirement: A portfolio showcasing previous work, including UI designs and/or sketches that highlight an understanding of design best practices across different platforms and devices.
  • Design Sense Mastery: Great sense of typography, iconography, color theory, and visual composition, coupled with a strong and clean visual design sense.
  • Proficiency in Design Tools: Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
  • Communication and Documentation Skills: Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in storytelling and documentation.
  • Experience in UI Mockup Development: Demonstrated expertise in building user interface mockups, spanning low- and high-fidelity designs.
  • Proficient in creating patterns, mockups, storyboards, interactive prototypes, and development-ready specifications.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of Design Thinking and Trends: Understanding of modern design thinking and design trends, encompassing responsiveness and accessibility.
  • Experience Collaborating with UX Researchers: Extensive background in collaborating with UX researchers, translating insights into accessible product features that prioritize customer needs.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Knowledge in planning and moderating design thinking workshops.
