As a Sustaining Electrical Engineer at eero, you will work with the Hardware Engineering and Manufacturing Operations teams to prepare for, evaluate, and implement electrical design and/or manufacturing process optimizations for products that have reached the mass production stage of their lifecycle.Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Research, select, and evaluate potential alternate sources for electronic components across all eero devices
• Maintain and update CAD library and PLM system data for electronic components
• Assess technical feasibility and risk of potential post-ramp design and manufacturing process changes
• Implement board schematic and PCB layout changes required for post-ramp qualification (PRQ) efforts
• Validate whether devices continue to meet performance requirements after proposed PRQ changes
• Review and manage technical input to deviations and change orders for PRQs in eero’s PLM system
• Assist compliance engineers with activities related to PRQs or expansion into new regions
• Support triage and analysis of field failures from product launch until end-of-life
• Collaborate with design engineers to improve the reliability and manufacturability of future designs
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in NPI and/or sustaining engineering for electronic products
- Knowledge of component selection, PLM system use, and PRQ process best practices for electronic products
- Strong understanding of PCB and PCBA manufacturing and assembly processes used in consumer electronics
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout software tools (preferably Cadence tools)
- Proficiency in the use of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and power supplies, as well as surface-mount soldering and rework equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the system integration challenges posed by wireless technologies such as wifi, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4
- Knowledge of software tools for the automation of hardware validation tests
- Familiarity with design of experiments and design for manufacturability
- Experience with 3+ full development cycles of high-volume consumer electronics products (including a successful launch into mass production) in a contract manufacturing environment
