This job acts as a project leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes. It involves making technical decisions, collaborating with management to set standards, and representing the company to external partners.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
• Proactively improves existing structures & processes
• Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
• Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
• Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
• Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Your day-to-day

• Design and develop highly scalable and efficient platform that enables data scientists to build, deploy, andmonitormachine learning solutions end-to-end.
• Ensure high code quality, performance, and reliability through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to software development best practices.
• Drive innovation by researching andincorporatingstate-of-the-artmachinelearning techniques, tools, and frameworks into the platform.
• Effective communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner.
• Mentor teammembers,providetechnicalguidance, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Explore state-of-the-art deep learning techniques and partner with data science and domain engineering teams to support the business transformation through AI.Develop trusted partnership with business, product, data scientists and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform product delivery

What do you need to bring

• Proventrack recordof over-achieving engineering, platform delivery and scaling targets in highvolume, innovativeand fast-paced high-pressure environment; proven results in delivery on platform products.
• Solid proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go and Java
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Airflow, Kubeflow, Argo, GPU and HPC. Knowledge of GPU optimization and libraries is plus.
• ExperiencebuildingMLinfrastructureorMLOpsplatforms and Bigdata platforms technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Spark, Hive and HDFS.
• Experiencein machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models using various ML frameworks such as pytorch, tensorflow, scikit-learn, etc.
• Stayup-to-datewith the latest advancements in AI/ML technology and industrytrends andleverage this knowledge to enhance the platform's capabilities.
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and empower team members to achieve their full potential.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $152,500 to $262,350
