We live and breathe the modern software engineering culture in which a single engineer wears all the hats necessary to design, implement, validate and release.As a member of this team in Azure Front Door, you will be responsible for developing and operating the Web Application Firewall, building robust services for safeguarding the system at different system layers and protecting our customer services using the latest technologies across platforms. You will write and operate code that is super-scale but lightweight, maintainable, efficient, and reliable. Your work will be critical in enhancing the performance, quality, density, and reliability of the platform.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or RUST
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Rust
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Rust
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of people management experience
  • Experience building distributed services and managing live sites
  • Experience with protocol stacks HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) and/or Network stack and OS (operating systems) internals
Responsibilities

  • Guide partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams.
  • Understand customer feedback and translate it into actionable product experiences.
  • Share and act on findings from investigations and own design decisions and oversee the less experienced team members.
  • Guide others and write documents for designs or User Stories and determine the technology that will be leveraged.
  • Identify skills needed and ensures engineering team's skills remain current by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments.
