Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

This incumbent, reporting directly to the legal director, will assist the legal director in handling any and all kinds of legal matters and issues which may occur in the digital and CRM operations in adidas China. He (or She) will also participate in different projects of growth and expansion of aChina ecommerce business, and perform a variety of legal advisory, technical and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts and other legal documents related to the digital and CRM operations, such as agreements with e-commerce platforms, vendors, KOLs/MCNs, collaborators and business partners.
  • Reviewing product descriptions and other contents to be published on the digital consumer touchpoints to ensure full compliance with laws.
  • Reviewing and commenting on key visuals, videos and other marketing and advertising materials and contents for digital business.
  • Providing supports in connection with consumer engagement and digital activation initiatives of adidas China, including reviewing and advising on the mechanisms, consumer journeys, T&Cs and other communications of various campaigns, hype launches and membership programs.
  • Assisting customer service team in handling consumer complaints, governmental inquiries and other similar matters in connection with aChina digital business.
  • Handling disputes and litigations, including: gathering and reviewing facts and information, providing preliminary opinion on exposure and downside risk assessment, recommending a path to resolve the disputes, and overseeing necessary execution in order to ensure that disputes are resolved in a manner that best represents the company's interests. Working with outside counsel where appropriate.
  • Participating in company’s digital & CRM projects and assisting in the commercial transactions if any, as and when assigned.
  • Providing legal supports, analyses & advices with regard tovarious issues incompany’s daily business and operations.
  • Monitoring changes and developments in the legal and regulatory environment in China market, and inform business stakeholders timely of the changes and developmentas well as actions required in the form of newsletters, presentations or otherwise.
  • Assisting the design and delivery of legal and compliance trainings and guidelines, as well as the formulation and implementation of appropriate standards and processes when needed.
  • Communicating with specialists in the home office in Germany and regional HQ in HK and third parties to facilitate day-to-day work and planning related to digital business.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Graduate of a recognized law school either in China or abroad and admitted as a member of the legal profession in China or abroad.
  • At least 4-6 years’ experience either in the legal department of a multinational corporation or a law firm with an international practice.
  • Experience in digital & CRM business and FMCG, sports company or retail industry is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the Chinese legal system and the main laws (e.g., civil laws, company laws etc.) as well as laws relating to ecommerce business, advertising, consumer protection etc. Experience in dealing with litigation cases in arbitration and courts is a plus.
  • Must be willing to participate in a team oriented, consensus-building environment. Have potential of managerial skills.
  • Very good communication skills & negotiation skills, comfortable presenting complex topics to stakeholders at various organizational levels both in person and remotely.
  • Must be fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (speaking, reading and writing). Have good communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and responsive.
