As a Staff Engineer – .NET & API Support Engineer, you will be responsible for initial troubleshooting, incident resolution, and request fulfillment for applications and APIs built using .NET technologies. This role focuses on analyzing and resolving application and API-related issues, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and coordinating with product teams when required
Your key responsibilities
- Act as a first responder for issues related to .NET-based applications and APIs, diagnosing problems and escalating unresolved cases to product teams.
- Assist in debugging .NET applications, microservices, and APIs, leveraging ServiceNow logs and error reports to investigate and identify issues.
- Process and complete operational service requests related to .NET applications and APIs, ensuring timely execution as per documented SOPs.
- Support authentication and access controls for .NET applications and APIs, including OAuth2, JWT, and API key management.
- Track and update tickets, document work notes and escalating issues to the appropriate teams as needed.
- Follow predefined SOPs and runbooks to troubleshoot application and API-related failures, performance degradation, and security incidents.
- Work closely with product team, platform teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth resolution of issues and minimal downtime.
- Participate in shift handover meetings, document troubleshooting steps, and update knowledge base articles for .NET and API support.
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting .NET-based applications and APIs.
- Understanding of API request/response flows, HTTP methods, and API debugging techniques.
- Familiarity with AWS API Gateway for managing API traffic and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow for tracking and resolving application and API incidents.
- Basic understanding of authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT) and security best practices.
- Ability to follow structured troubleshooting workflows, SOPs, and incident management guidelines
- Strong documentation and communication skills for tracking incidents, documenting solutions, and updating knowledge bases.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- 2-4 years of experience in API support, application troubleshooting, or backend services monitoring.
- Exposure to incident management tools (ServiceNow or similar).
- Basic familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift-based support model.
