What you will learn and contribute to

The key responsibilities of the Patent Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Identifying, capturing, and managing IPR, with particular emphasis on invention evaluation.
  • Handling on patent applications and patents including drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Preparing claim charts in support of litigation and licensing activities
  • Reviewing claim charts and collaborating with experts to ascertain the claim scope

Your skills and experience

You have:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunication, computer science or Information Technology
  • At least 3 years of experience as Patent Specialist or Patent Counsel, ideally
    within an industry setting
  • A solid knowledge of wireless communication standards (4G/5G/ORAN/5GAdv/6G) and the respective Radio Network Technologies (e.g. RF HW, Baseband Processing, Sub THz, MIMO, SoC HW/SW, RAN CTRL, O&M, Cloud RAN, applied AI/ML in wireless products)
  • An approachable, “team-player” attitude and confidence in interaction with product research and development colleagues and others across the business
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Fluency in English as the working language of the company.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • A qualification as European or National Patent Attorney or Patent Agent or being a candidate working towards a full qualification of patent attorney
  • Deep knowledge of patenting computer implemented SW inventions in AI/ML
  • Deep knowledge of Nokia’s and/or third-party products and the respective technical implementations
  • German, French, or Finnish language skills.
