About the role:

In this strategic and cross-functional role, you will lead user experience (UX) initiatives across the portfolio—guiding efforts from discovery through delivery. As a champion of human-centered design (HCD), you will embed Voice of Customer (VoC) insights into every phase of the product lifecycle, ensuring that solutions are not only innovative but also deeply aligned with user needs and business goals. You will play a pivotal role in shaping experience strategy, mentoring teams, and driving alignment across stakeholders to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading strategic UX engagements from discovery through build, aligning cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the portfolio.
  • Designing and executing Voice of Customer (VoC) research to uncover user needs and inform product strategy, experience design, and prioritization.
  • Embedding human-centered design (HCD) practices into delivery and pursuit work, ensuring user insights are central to decision-making.
  • Facilitating collaborative workshops to align teams, shape roadmaps, and spark innovation across disciplines.
  • Mentoring peers and fostering inclusive, high-performing teams that deliver with empathy, creativity, and excellence.
  • Translating user and clinical needs into inclusive, accessible, and engaging design strategies that align with business and marketing goals—leveraging insights from physicians and subject matter experts to inform product requirements and future innovation.
  • Prototyping and iterating on solutions based on user insights and client feedback to ensure experiences are intuitive, functional, and valuable.
  • Structuring and conducting user research and usability evaluations to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Balancing user needs with business goals and technical constraints to deliver impactful, measurable experiences.
  • Effectively communicating project decisions and status to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Leveraging internal and external partners as needed to achieve project objectives and maintain momentum.
  • Demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by adhering to all documented quality processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Marketing, Graphic/UI Design, or Industrial Design
  • Required minimum years of relevant work experience: 10 yrs with BS, or 8 yrs with MS
  • Strong medical device development experience and working with health care providers
  • Experience in Contextual Inquiry / Gather Design Inputs, and detailed use flow and variations.
  • Creation of design prototypes utilized for early usability studies, formative and summative study design and execution.
  • Familiarity with documentation of study results and reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to solve complex problems, including designing, executing experimental plans, and using design methodologies to drive data-based decisions
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines
  • Discipline and standards knowledge specific to user experience design for medical devices
  • Contributions to the Human Factors / User Experience community
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
