ABOUT THE ROLE

You will focus on the site's Safety programs (~70%) and carry out environmental and health programs' initiatives as well. You will report directly to the Sr. HSE Manager for the Americas, with a matrix reporting relationship to the site HSE Manager.

Relocation support may be provided.

Key HSE Responsibilities:

  • Leading Safety on the production floor by identifying workplace hazards and spearheading innovative control measures to minimize risks.
  • Serve as a pivotal support resource for employees across various organizational levels, leading the Safety Committee, and fostering a culture of safety excellence within factory and engineering operations.
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement in HSE practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental management procedures, keeping them updated to reflect the latest industry standards and best practices.
  • Effectively communicate HSE procedures and regulatory requirements to employees and managers at all levels, demonstrating sensitivity to the diverse cultural backgrounds within the company.
  • Monitor, document, and analyze HSE metrics, swiftly implementing corrective actions and reporting on incidents, regulatory inspections, and audit results to drive operational excellence.
  • Provide expert technical support to the Leadership Team and plant personnel, guiding day-to-day operations with a focus on safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Engage with Management of Change (MOC) activities to provide HSE support for the change.
  • Champion ongoing training initiatives, developing comprehensive training programs and delivering engaging presentations to enhance the HSE knowledge and skills of site personnel and managers.
  • Lead or participate in thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by actively participating in site improvement activities on the production floor and ensuring compliance with both external regulatory audits and internal corporate audits.
  • Serves as the HSE site contact between the site and global SETS ISC HSE organization by attending periodic regional meetings, providing reports, and presenting the site at regional HSE meetings.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a full time HSE role in an industrial setting, OR equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt certified or willing to become certified in first 12 months.
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and management systems.
  • Team oriented and effective public speaking skills.
  • Effective communications and influence all levels of employees and leadership.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, First Aid practices, environmental and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Experience participating in audits and implementing HSE management systems.
