The Lead R&D Scientist role is an experienced position responsible for performing very complex analytical and/or engineering functions on a portfolio of assigned and/or self-initiated of broad scope by applying advanced knowledge of mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guides and coordinates evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, suggests, and executes complex solutions.
  • Independently prepares product or project definitions, and/or lab testing methods.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
  • Directs the development of procedures to implement proper quality controls.
  • Performs and documents very complex tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems.
  • Provides mentorship, advice, and insight to other engineers/scientists to ensure project and product compliance.
  • Recognized as a technical leader within the organization.
  • Delegates the preparation of comprehensive proposals, schedules, and cost estimates; may set, modify and/or negotiate schedule changes and dates.
  • Proposes and implements innovative technical advances and/or improvements in existing or new technologies to produce substantial growth in the business.
  • Influence strategic planning for and plans one or more projects of major scope and complexity that significantly impact the business.
  • Leads, directs, influences, or coordinates the work of a major project, program, product, or component with responsibility for project objectives, completion dates, resources, and technical specifications.
  • Champions initiatives to resolve critical processes and technical-related issues.
You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in analytical, scientific, or related technical activities
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • United States Citizenship
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
