Qualcomm’s Visual Technology Team is seeking an XR Systems Engineer to prototype XR systems and software solutions for rapidly growing Snapdragon Augmented and Virtual Reality platforms. This is a hands-on system design and development role. A successful candidate will be responsible for:
Integrating novel and custom XR peripherals into prototype XR systems starting from concept, including display subsystems and camera modules.
Linux driver development for XR peripherals.
Analyzing data sheets and Qualcomm reference device schematics to create blue-wiring instructions to attach prototype XR peripherals.
Hands on debugging of experimental prototypes using DMM, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer.
Create end-to-end system models to simulate HW performance of XR peripherals and compare system models to on-target performance.
Developing proof of concept implementations in collaboration with domain experts, internal teams, and external partners.
Performing system tracing to identify XR specific constraints and verifying potentially innovative new solutions leveraging Snapdragon chipsets and platforms.
Coordinating and contributing to the development of use cases, requirements, and system specifications.
Writing high level system design documents and feature descriptions.
Delivering proven designs into commercial products.
【Minimum Qualifications】
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
【Preferred Qualifications】
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
7+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
2+ years professional experience in multimedia technology areas such as augmented/virtual reality, sensing, imaging, displays, computer graphics, computer vision, cameras, biometrics, speech, and audio.
Highly proficient with C/C++ on Linux and Android systems.
Experience developing XR hardware platforms for head mounted devices.
Familiar with MIPI CSI/DSI protocols.
Advanced virtual and augmented reality design concepts including low-latency architectures, split-processing architectures, reprojection/warping, head/eye/body tracking, environmental reconstruction, video see-through mixed reality, and spatial codecs.
Excellent communication skills with cross-functional teams designing complex products.
System performance analysis and KPI generation for commercial products informing hardware design.
Knowledge of quantitatively assessing hardware implementation requirements of algorithms.
Power/performance use case specification, modeling, and optimization.
CPU sub-system architecture, coprocessor interfaces, HW/SW partitioning, smart DMAs, HW compression.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
