As a Munitions Response Geophysicist, you’ll collaborate with other experienced scientists, engineers, and project managers to solve our clients’ most challenging environmental & engineering issues. Working with some of the brightest minds in environmental & engineering consulting, you’ll act as a technical consultant and subject matter expertproviding data interpretation and analysis on environmental site characterizations. Your primary role would involve Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) projects with advance geophysical classification sensors; experience providing technical leadership and guidance, data processing and analysis, and report preparation for these types of projects is essential for this position.
You must be based within the United States, and ideally you'll reside in the Pensacola, FL area to successfully support our team remotely. Additional skills that are a plus but not necessary include strong communication skills, experience training others in geophysical data collection and analysis, experience with technical presentations or posters on MMRP topics, and experience interacting with government organizations on data delivery.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in geophysics, geology, applied mathematics or closely related technical field.
- Academic and industry experience in collecting and processing of a comprehensive range of land-based near surface geophysical data including electromagnetic and magnetic techniques as well as positioning systems including GPS, SLAM and RTS.
- Working knowledge applying Oasis Montaj to geophysical data on MMRP projects.
- Ability and flexibility to travel an estimated 0% to 20% on a monthly basis.
- Willingness to support other Jacobs’ operations that might not be related to environmental and engineering geophysics as schedule permits.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience with vehicle-towed land geophysical surveys using electrical, and magnetic methods.
- Experience with airborne/drone based geophysical surveys using electrical and magnetic methods.
- Academic or industry experience in collecting and processing of marine geophysical data including seismic methods, electromagnetic, magnetic, side-scan sonars, single and multi-beam bathymetric sonars.
- Coding skills with one or more programming languages/environments, such as Python, MATLAB.
