Job Purpose:

  • Primary and secondary Foreign Exchange Sales to a broad range of European Institutional Investors across Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
  • Work on the full range of FX products with the objective to enhance existing and develop new relationships with clients and internal partners.
  • Coverage responsibilities instrumental to the broader continental team including contribution to EMEA.

Job Background/context:

  • The position sits within the FX Institutional Sales team in Frankfurt.
  • The product trading responsibility sits in Paris and London.
  • Direct Reporting into Paris and Frankfurt.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Foreign Exchange Institutional Sales team in Frankfurt, supporting the team with its objective to be the industry leading coverage and trusted advisor to our clients.
  • Independent coverage of a portfolio of allocated clients in all aspects of the FX business.
  • Focus on securing the most economically appropriate share of wallet by managing our valued resources responsibly, and to protect our clients and the firm through commitment to the highest standards of control and governance.
  • Support Institutional and Corporates clients’ flow trade requirements from price inquiry to complete advisory service.
  • Advise clients on market / execution / e-FX related opportunities and solutions.
  • Assist clients on non-market risk management challenges, for example, balance sheet, cash-flow/earnings risk analysis and strategic, episodic driven hedging discussions.
  • Build relationships with related sales and solutions groups across FXLM, markets and banking to help source origination opportunities and promote cross selling across business lines.
  • Support, develop and enhance relationships with the existing client base, leading to identifying new contacts and developing prospects, aiming to build a trusted advisor relationship.
  • Act as end-to-end owner of executed transactions.
  • Ensure being up to date with the latest products and services to proficiently sell these to the customer.
  • Support the team on all daily tasks including preparing of trade ideas, onboarding, etc.
  • Being at all times up to date with compliance, regulation, trainings, to perform your responsibilities in line with Citi’s Policies and Standards.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in FX Markets.
  • Experience working in Institutional Sales role with high value clients.
  • Understanding of risk management tools and techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of currency options, derivatives and e-commerce solutions for FX.
  • Deep understanding of how buy-side clients operate, including AUM, strategy, client structure and operating mandate.
  • Understanding of technology trends, treasury technology and e-FX related opportunities and solutions.
  • Detailed understanding of pre- and post-transaction lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of Interest Rate and / or Commodity derivative markets and products would be preferable.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively within a high volume / high pressure environment.
  • Ability to originate new business opportunities and client relationships.
  • Strong general analytical ability, including aptitude to analyse company annual reports.
  • Proactive attitude.
  • Strong credit and risk structuring skills
  • High ethical standards according to Citi’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Higher education. Degree in Banking, Finance, or Economics.
  • English fluency (written and spoken) is essential, German fluency is preferable.
