Job Title:Senior Software Engineer

This role is part of our Pricing and FX Insights Platform team (Data & Analytics) here at PayPal. Pricing is the core of PayPal payments system that brings revenue to PayPal. You will be working with Pricing and FX Insights Platforms Team (Data & Analytics) which is part of Pricing team where we develop large scale and distributed fault tolerant applications which generates analytical reports and provide data to pricing engine, pricing operation and treasury to set proper price structure for the customers.

You will help in designing and developing backend system using Big Data technologies with GCP leveraging Spring Boot, Spark(Java) Programming and Spark Framework, Kafka, Shell Scripting,

Your Day to Day:

  • Building highly scalable backend data pipeline with highthroughput
  • Building batches using Java, Spring Framework which deals paymentsdata
  • Building REST services using Spring framework which reads the data from SOR, perform business logic, and expose the output data to client in REST API
  • Writing spark job which will read data from backend payments SOR feed into our data pipeline and develop data pipelines in GCP using BigQuery and BigTable.
  • Scheduling jobs using UC4,airflow

What You Need to Bring:

  • A successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience with backend and mid-tier services using Spring Boot, REST API, Java, Spark, BigQuery, BigTable technologies
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and building highly scalable distributed services is required
  • Strong understanding of real time streaming technologies Kafka, GCP Pub Sub
  • Hands on development in data-driven applications using Spring Boot and other relevant technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in tuning and writing scalable sql queries in RDBMS (Oracle) and analytical stores
  • In-depth knowledge of GCP services (BigQuery, BigTable, Cloud Storage and DataProc)
  • Knowledge on Python, machine learning, deep learning, and statisticalmodelling preferred
  • Knowledge on generative AI techniques(LLMs) preferred
  • Knowledge on ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch,Keras) preferred
