Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

You will contribute to an end-to-end production life-cycle from concepts to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions. In an organization with high-reaching goals and autonomy, you will engage in providing technical leadership on high impact projects, influence and drive multi-functional teams, facilitate alignment and clarity across teams, and handle priorities, deadlines and deliverables. You will be expected to practice and champion foundational software and systems development principles. The role requires utmost ownership and a hands-on leader who has a steadfast passion and enthusiasm for building elegant and powerful systems and platforms for solving sophisticated problems at scale!

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In your Software Tools Delivery Practice Leader role, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of innovative software architects and engineers to create tools that will help services engineers to deploy and operate Nokia's solutions to our customers
  • Develop and execute on a roadmap to build tools to continually improve the NI Services portfolio.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design, plan, and deliver high-quality software features for our tools and solutions.
  • Work closely with Nokia NI R&D and service teams to integrate our tools and design a great overall developer/service experience.
  • Strengthen the team by hiring and developing top engineering talent.
  • Help grow a strong open-source community centered around our tools.
  • Define and ensure compliance to our NI Services software tool standards
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience leading a technical team and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
  • Proven track record of influencing and building credibility with highly technical, cross functional teams across all seniority levels.
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies, and staying ahead of industry trends and applying industry best practices to enterprise roadmaps and challenges.
  • Experience hiring engineers and technical leaders and helping grow their careers.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts, designs and decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with large scale production systems.
  • Self driven and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Creative thinker and strong problem solver that thrives in an environment that focuses on customer experience and attention to detail.

Technical Skills:

Languages and frameworks: Python, GO, javascript, React

Ruby, and perl are a plus


Application design principles:
- Threading, concurrency, locking optimization
- async/await
- sockets interface
- Modularity
- Microservices
Java is a plus as well as C++
Basic network troubleshooting skills:
- tcpdump
- ARP, ip routing
Extensive knowledge of Linux
- SSH connections. scp, Jump servers, ssh tunnels
- CLI standard tools like sed, grep, cat etc.
Docker
Running containers
Creating Dockerfiles
docker-compose
volume mounts
Kubernetes is a plus

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible is a plus
