Drive development, installation, qualification and ramp-up of high speed, high precision manufacturing equipment including but not limited to laser welding systems, jellyroll and cell assembly equipment
Develop jellyroll insertion and laser weld/marking processes, qualifying them using statistically valid data sets and workflow
Team up with internal and external automation houses and equipment suppliers to iterate on and continuously advance state-of-the-art cell manufacturing processes/equipment
Generate machine specifications, documentation, and manufacturing instructions
Collaborate with Production Engineering, EH&S, Quality, Operations and Design for maximum yield, quality, machine availability and output
Optimize product and process flows, improve line and factory level efficiency while reducing Capex and lead-time for iterative manufacturing equipment
What You’ll Bring
Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience
Process/Equipment Engineering experience in a high-volume, high-precision manufacturing environment. Experience in battery manufacturing is preferred
Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software, creating/validating layouts, tooling drawings, pneumatic and electrical schematics. Experience with PLC programming is a plus
Experience working with advanced precision automation, material handling systems, multi-kilowatt lasers, cell materials and vision systems
Experience with design and development of high throughput, automated alignment machinery
Strong background in GD&T and mechanical design analysis
Strong hands-on experience in a pilot manufacturing and lab scale environment
Proven track record of utilizing statistically significant, data driven workflows to solve complex problems
