eBay is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Director, Decision Science leader for our Risk, Trust and Compliance team of data scientists, applied researchers and data engineers. Our data science team uses machine learning models to:

• Assess and bolster marketplace trust and reliability

• Drive strategic growth through risk-based personalization

• Detect and prevent frauds and scams to build a trusted marketplace

• Predict and prevent bad buying and selling experiences

Responsibilities:

• Set vision and strategy for Risk Science and motivate a team of high-performing data scientists and data engineers to achieve their goals

• Support the professional growth of your team through mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership

• Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and product teams to develop strategic and tactical improvements to our risk and machine learning/AI platforms

• Collaborate with business partners to understand the Machine Learning, feature development, and Intelligence needs to drive eBay's strategy

• Design and implement end to end solutions using machine learning and AI, improving efficiency and user experience for buyers and sellers

• Assess and bolster marketplace trust and reliability by examining and preventing bad buying and selling experiences

• Work with data scientists, engineers, and cross functional teams to produce end-to-end production-ready solutions

• Drive a culture of quality, performance, scalability, and reliability

• Rigorously set and measure operational metrics and outcomes, and continually improve processes at scale

• Recruit, develop and lead a robust team

Requirements:

• Consistent track record of leadership with 12+ years of industry experience managing teams

• Deep understanding of machine learning methods and evaluation methods.

• Deeply engaged and knowledgeable of the latest technological advancements in ML and others areas including SQL, Python OR R as well as Hadoop, Spark or related technologies.

• Team-builder and experienced people manager leading teams in machine learning, statistical modeling, feature development, and model governance

• Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with tried ability to ‘get stuff done'

• Ability to develop and manage relationships at all levels in the organization

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, and ability to communicate complex technical topics in clear simple terms

• Strategic problem solver who combines tactical execution with clarity of vision

• Experience leading ambiguous and less defined environments

• Master of Science or PhD in a quantitative field, or computer science, or engineering preferred

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$206,400 - $332,750
