Develop and execute strategies to build a strong patent portfolio aligned with eBay’s business objectives.
Collaborate with inventors across diverse teams to identify patentable inventions and innovations.
Oversee the patent application process, from initial disclosure review to filing, prosecution, pre-litigation, and annuities review, ensuring all applications align with eBay’s standards and strategic goals.
Work with outside counsel to manage a docket of domestic and international patent applications.
Provide legal advice and support regarding patent-related litigation, licensing, and enforcement.
Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and competitive analyses.
Engage in defensive publication strategies to protect eBay’s business interests.
Advise on strategic acquisitions and technology development with useful patent insights.
Stay informed on industry trends, legal developments in IP, and competitive activities affecting eBay’s IP interests.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar.
Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Minimum of 6 years of experience in patent law, particularly in the technology sector.
In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution and strategic portfolio management.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the e-commerce or technology industry.

Background in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
