Develop and execute 3M's US Navy and Marine Corps engagement strategy, including all aspects of the US Navy and Marine Corps, key prime contractors, shipbuilders, platform providers, and stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the US Navy, focusing on NAVSEA, NAVAIR and Office of Naval Research (ONR).
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within the US Navy, US Marine Corps, associated organizations and prime contractors.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful integration of 3M's materials, technology, and capabilities into US Navy and Marine Corps systems and platforms.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to 3M’s cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed, multi-disciplined environment.
Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform business development strategies and drive the use of 3M products and technology
Attend and participate in relevant tradeshows and industry associations.
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to key stakeholders.
Achieve and exceed sales targets and business development goals.
Lead and manage complex sales cycles, from initial contact through final approvals.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Five (5) years of experience working with / engaging NAVSEA and/or NAVAIR.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.
Ability to obtain and hold a DoD Security Clearance
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Prior military in the US Navy or Marine Corps service is highly desired but not required.
Proven leader with a track record of success in business development and sales.
Experience advising on and specifying materials, technology, and capabilities into naval systems.
Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed, multi-disciplined environment.
Demonstrative, strong understanding of the US Navy's specification processes and requirements.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated and results-oriented with a strong drive to achieve business objectives.
Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Salesforce
