WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Lead Concept Engineer in the Bowerman Footwear Lab, you will help to bring early footwear concepts to life by turning sketches into patterns and subsequently into real footwear prototypes. This work helps to accelerate decision making and set our overseas factory partners up for success. To accomplish this, you will:

  • Communicate with Nike footwear designers, developers, and engineers across multiple categories to understand their vision for the shoe.
  • Influence the design and technical direction of the project based on your expertise.
  • Utilize PROCAM Dimensions CAD software to translate design sketches into footwear patterns.
  • Create footwear prototypes using a combination of machinery and hands-on making, and/or lead teammates through the creation process.
  • Review and scrutinize projects for execution of key design details, adherence to best practices, quality of construction, and manufacturability.
  • Serve as a primary mentor for new Concept Engineers or other BFL prototyping teammates, supporting their overall learning and development.
  • Educate the greater Nike footwear community through your work to develop and deliver training content.
  • Lead cross functional team projects with moderate to large resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
