What you'll do...
What you will do:
Gather information, interview subject matter experts (SMEs), and conduct research.
Partner closely with engineering, product, operations, and onboarding teams to identify content gaps.
Work with product stakeholders to identify API audience information, requirements, and documentation deliverables.
Synthesize content requests and data from multiple sources into accurate documentation and cohesive content plans.
Write and publish best-in-class API reference documentation, Postman collections, tutorials, getting started guides, FAQs, troubleshooting, and release notes.
Participate in the team’s efforts to establish API documentation style and process guidelines.
Understand how end users use API-related documentation and advocate for end-user needs to produce successful documentation.
Make recommendations to help the team choose the best API documentation writing and publishing tools.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of API documentation, strategy, design, and implementation.
Provide peer reviews and coaching for team members.
Track and report project schedules and assignments while working toward set deadlines.
What you will bring:
BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant area
10+ years of experience in technical product documentation
5+ years of experience in developer-facing API documentation
2+ years of developer experience
Experience with Postman, linting tools, using a command line interface, GitHub, HTML, and CSS
Knowledge of API technical concepts, webhooks, authentication, and authorization
Proficiency in extracting SME knowledge and communicating it in a meaningful way
A passion for understanding the end-user’s needs
Excellent planning, organizational, and execution skills, with an ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Knowledge of technical writing standards and the ability to adhere to a style guide
A track record of excellent communication and cooperation, preferably in a global and culturally diverse organization
Excellent writing skills and the ability to make complex topics easy and engaging.
Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and ReadMe
Portfolio of API documentation created in previous roles
Experience with API documentation for marketplace platforms.
