The technical program manager (TPM) is an authority with excellent interpersonal skills, strength working cross-functionally, with ability to influence and facilitate others to solve business problems and deliver solutions. The position requires a unique blend of business and technical savviness: a big-picture vision, the drive to make that vision a reality, and technical credibility to engage and drive work with software engineers. The TPM will be presenting complex technical challenges and resolutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate complex technical challenges and resolutions defining cross-functional work to leadership and other partners
- Negotiate challenging priorities and navigate complex organizational dynamics to establish delivery plans, forecasts, and budgets
- Facilitate cross-functional engineering teams to solve business problems and deliver solutions
- Bring the product vision and the technical build together – become the glue between functional teams
- Develop strong relationships to engage, align, and empower people to deliver
- Maintain and continue to develop a broad knowledge of business & technology expertise – understand the interconnections between the people, the processes, and the technology solutions
- Bring an outstanding blend of business and technical savvy: a big-picture vision, the drive to make that vision a reality, and technical credibility to engage with software engineers
- Develop, report, and continually improve performance metrics
- Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals
- Demonstrate ownership and autonomy in owned projects and functional areas and drive delivery of high-quality results
- Build strategies for issue and risk mitigation and contingency planning
- Lead all aspects of project/program deliverables andadhereto audit/compliance requirements
- Support the development of high-performing global teams for effectively handling sophisticated and multifaceted programs
- Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

- While encouraged to be a facilitator and driver, equally comfortable digging into business requirements or drilling into architecture with development teams to solve complex problems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in Technical Program, IT, and/or project management
- 3+ years of experience in a program manager capacity
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall program management methodologies
- Experience leading a geo-dispersed team
- Experience working in a concurrent software development environment as part of a complex build and merge management process
- Technology product development experience is highly desired
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
- Duties require the ability to travel up to 80% via automobile and airplane and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
- Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time spent traveling.
- Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
