As a Software Engineer, you will work on a dynamic and motivated software team focused on developing Mobile Digital Health products to create our next generation networking platform which enables connectivity between all our patient monitoring devices.This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days onsite in Milwaukee, WI each week.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Roles and Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with an interest for distributed systems and who wants to work on the "behind the scenes" technologies which enables computing devices to dynamically discover each other and exchange critical information in real-time. You will be working with the same technologies that have enabled the "Internet of things" and apply them to a healthcare environment where a distributed system of patient monitoring devices must work together to seamlessly provide life critical information to healthcare professionals.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Design and implement platform software and services for GE Healthcare’s Mobile Digital Health products.
  • Work across the entire software development lifecycle including software requirements, high-level and detailed design specifications, software implementation, verification, defect resolution and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Development Leads and Architects to design solutions and implement them into product.
  • Evaluate basic technology/software design choices and articulate tradeoffs.
  • Writes codes that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
  • Participate in pair programming and code reviews.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and system level tests to verify the design and implementation.
  • Participate in Agile project planning activities with the team to define, estimate and plan tasks.
  • Take ownership of tasks and deliver without supervision while using discretion to seek help when needed.
  • Participate in non-program engineering improvements to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the team
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)or related computer degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software design while working on senior engineering projects, internships, open source, or product development.
  • Experience with Java and/or C++ software design and implementation capabilities.
  • Experience or studies related to distributed systems, peer-to-peer networks, or computer networking.
  • Experience with multi-threaded, concurrent systems.
  • Experience with configurating basic network setups.
  • Able to develop in a Linux-based environment.
  • Able to develop using Git for software configuration management.
