As a Plant Engineering Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Scheduling, assigning, and directing trade personnel in performance of daily tasks for maintenance of equipment and/or facilities
  • Monitoring progress of assigned work, evaluating completed assignments to confirm use of correct procedures, and evaluating quality of work performed
  • Providing technical direction to craftspeople and assisting in diagnosing equipment problems as required to expedite work of the business unit
  • Training craftspeople in job requirements and basic technical skills, recommending training programs as needed to develop and maintain capabilities of the workforce
  • Participating with superior and others in the hiring process and selection of new employees

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of experience in Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Operations or Utility Plant Operations in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Two (2) year degree and/or technical certificate from an accredited institution
  • Four (4) combined years of skilled trades journeyman level experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current and valid MN licensure for a trade, such as an electrician, plumber, pipe fitter, or HVAC technician
  • Five (5) years of experience in a leadership role such as project manager, supervisor, and/or team lead
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills for managing people
  • Experience with reading mechanical, electrical, and/or architectural prints
  • Demonstrated facilitation, communication (oral, written, presentation), and teaching skills
  • Skills include experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and SAP software
