HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As part of the team, you will:

  • Recommend to the President of NIMCO on the structure and approach for investing in each public asset class portfolio, particularly fixed income, including the development of investment policy and strategy statements, as well as on manager selections and terminations.
  • Manage the day-to-day oversight of the pension plan’s (defined benefit) public market asset classes to achieve long-term performance targets within acceptable risk parameters.
  • Manage the day-to-day oversight of the 401K plan (defined contribution plan) including multi-manager structure and target date fund glidepaths.
  • Ensure a robust investment manager search and selection process, as well as, managing the effective transition of assets.
  • Negotiate and monitor legal agreements with investment managers and other vendors.
  • Conduct and document oversight of external investment managers, including semi-annual due diligence visits and other meetings, as required.
  • Analyze and effectively communicate investment results including the attribution of absolute and benchmark relative investment returns.
  • Maintain and develop contacts with the industry to conduct appropriate searches and due diligence on investment decisions.
  • Work as part of a team to implement best operational and risk management practices.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, or closely related field required
  • MBA, CFA qualification, and/or CAIA designation is highly desirable.
  • At least eight to ten years of institutional investment experience across fixed income and equities with a broad understanding of financial markets.
  • Proficient understanding of fiduciary duty and ERISA.
  • Proven ability to interpret and effectively communicate portfolio risk characteristics and investment results, including attribution of absolute and benchmark relative investment returns.
  • Demonstrated ability to think proactively and independently.
  • Well-honed investment instincts and a thoughtful, disciplined approach to investing.
  • Interest in managing and mentoring other investment staff.
  • Competent in a flexible work environment while maintaining a high degree of productivity.
  • Familiarity with derivatives, leverage and a wide their uses across investment instruments.
  • Ability to travel to external investment managers’ places of business.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships within NIMCO staff, Investment Committee members, external investment managers and service providers.
  • Demonstration of integrity and a high degree of ethics.
  • Ability to articulate, in basic terminology, various investment strategies.
  • Highly self-confident and persuasive with interpersonal presence to inspire others to want to perform at a high level.
