Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continue to develop Verint’s privacy platform (currently OneTrust) to meet operational and regulatory requirements. This includes managing initiatives which increase Verint’s compliance with risk management including incident management and general enterprise risk management.
  • Assist with completion DPIAs (Data Protection Impact Assessment) and PIAs (Privacy Impact Assessment).
  • Develop and deliver risk privacy training and coaching as required including periodic refresh on LMS (Learning Management System) materials to keep pace with regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Provides recommendations or solutions to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures that reduce and mitigate privacy risk exposure.
  • Maintain and enhance contract terms and conditions according to privacy policies, regulations and legislation including timely submission of reporting requirements.
  • Provides input into privacy related matters to enable Verint’s annual ESG (Environmental Social Governance) report.
  • Provides due diligence and integration support as it relates to privacy matters.
  • Coordinate with risk owners to determine the appropriate risk levels, issues or opportunities statements and mitigation plans for review, discussion, and resolution.
  • Provide guidance on contract matters to the Verint global legal team to manage negotiations (sell-side/buy side) and improve contract forms, as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with international data transfer mechanisms including up-keep of certifications such as the EU-US data privacy framework.
  • Assist in innovation of and response to the privacy elements of requests for proposals (RFPs) as needed.
  • Instruct external counsel as agreed with SVP Global Privacy and management of external legal spend within agreed budget parameters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • JD from ABA accredited program (top tiered school preferred) with current license to practice law in their local State jurisdiction.
  • 8+ years of legal counsel experience in the management of privacy regulatory matters privacy assessments, risk mitigation methodologies with an exposure to contract drafting and contract management.
  • Strong knowledge of key privacy laws including EU/UK GDPR, US state law e.g., CPRA and how to apply operational and contract requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of e-privacy requirements including cookie and marketing communication requirements in the US and EU.
  • Good knowledge of the EU AI Act.
  • Possess strong EQ and be to communicate and interact effectively with varying levels in the organization.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge to explain and interpret company privacy notices, cookie notices and contractual forms.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities concurrently within a fast-paced environment and to meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience in the identification, monitoring, and reporting of privacy compliance risk in the context of global business.
  • Proficient in OneTrust (or an equivalent privacy platform) and MS Office suite of tools (including Teams, OneNote, Word, and Excel).
  • This is a US based remote role with a requirement to work EST time zone.
  • Travel required: 20-25% initially for approximately 6-9 months; thereafter approximately 5-10% domestic/international (to Verint’s EU HQ near London).
  • Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Understanding of a SaaS / software development environment.
  • IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) member.
  • IAPP/US or EU certified.
  • Understanding of personal data regulated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and business associate agreements.
  • Other relevant privacy or risk qualifications.
  • Knowledge of the AI compliance requirements.
