About the Role

The localization team is looking for an experienced Operation program manager (OPM) or Technical Program Manager (TPM) to expand our Localization Operations (LocOps) team. In this role, you will operationalize the localization translation pipeline and translation tool infrastructure, collaborating with localization program manager, internationalization engineering teams, and technology vendors to build/create tools. You will also be coordinate with the internal developers and various product managers to define PRD and ERD for internal tool and integration with internal CMS and services. You will be hosting daily sync up with dev teams, streamline integration, elevating translation quality and productivity. Furthermore, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting tool-related issues and backing the localization team. Serving as a liaison between the localization program management team, the localization experience program team, multiple stakeholders, and tech vendors, you will optimize localization tools and processes sufficiently meet all functionality, efficiency, and scalability requirements. An ideal candidate should hold technical skills to solve complex problems and devise scalable solutions to build and execute the tech programs. Effective relationship with vendor management and a collaborative mindset are fundamental for this role.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist the localization Operation team by maintaining the efficient operation of all translation pipelines and tools. Debug tools embedded in Perl and Python scripts and verify that no translation projects are stale in the pipeline.
  • You will require to utilize, develop, and optimize tools and processes compatible with a vendor-neutral model. This implies that all tools and processes established, proposed, and implemented for the Uber translation pipeline should remain neutral.
  • Clearly define, manage, and maintain localization tools and processes. Additionally, it is crucial to identify and rectify inefficiencies, optimizing for scalability and efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for all cross-functional stakeholders related to the Localization Operations (LocOps) team, particularly regarding localization tools bugs, translation bugs and integrations questions.
  • Collaborate closely with translation vendors to address any issues concerning translation projects, onboarding, and accessing issue; thereby ensuring improvements in overall onboarding experiences.
  • Manage vendors and team account issues and maintain active directory, google groups and other permissions to ensure the right users have the right permissions.
  • Develop & maintain key relationships with stakeholder and the localization team
  • As a Operation/Technical Program Manager, your responsibilities will include documenting every element of the scripts and tools that you create.
  • Collect requirements about the necessary localization tools and quality control processes from Localization Program Managers (LPgMs) and Localization Experience Program Managers (LXPMs). Subsequently, partner with Internationalization Engineering to drive requirements.
  • Capable of writing scripts and maintaining codes for operational tools.
  • Work closely with PMs/Engineers on product roll-outs, tool improvements/automation, and tech planning

What You’ll Need

  • BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent with some coding experience with mathematics, or a related field
  • 2 years of localization operations experience in the high-tech industry on the client side
  • Understand ‌scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Java, and SQL
  • Proven track record in streamlining complex processes and improving workflow efficiency
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently and be able to chart the direction of projects
  • Strong analytical and problem- solving experience, coupled with excellent business judgment
  • Great negotiation skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Very detail-oriented, quality-focused and proactive in solving problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels
