If you answered yes to these questions, we have a dream job for you.As a Sr. Acoustic Engineer, you will be responsible for acoustic development of products by creating data for various product needs. You will create test standards, review them with stakeholders, and acquire data for new product and features supported by Alexa Auto. You will work with internal teams to define product performance metrics. You will help fine tune acoustic models to support new products and features by Alexa Auto. You will work with external partners to help improve our product performance in their vehicle environment. You will gather data on a number of vehicles and conduct benchmark studies. You will work with commercial tools and develop new tools to scale data for various speech profiles using digital signal processing techniques. You will write algorithms and share them with internal teams to improve automation of data acquisition and processing for custom needs. You will create acoustic validation requirements for the new products and features supported by Alexa Auto. You will work with automotive OEMs and Tier 1s to review and make sure they adhere to the certification specification.Key job responsibilities
· Work with other internal teams and external partners on best known test and simulation methods for acoustic data generation and application
· Lead design reviews and cross-functional meetings on performance metrics and improvement of data sets
· Evaluate commercial tools and products and integrate them with internal workflows as necessitated
· Travel to guide internal teams and external partners for tuning of audio and improve speech recognition
· Collaborate with research scientists and software engineers to tune and optimize audio signal processing algorithms for speech processing
· Contribute to refining best practice methods
· Develop and maintain a high bar for user experience
· Write white papers / application notes to guide OEMs and Tier 1s
· Generate and participate in product ideation and reviews with product leadership
· Requires travel 10-20% of the time domestically and internationally

- · Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, Physics, EE, ME or related field
- · 10+ years of relevant experience in audio product development
- · Knowledge of audio digital signal processing fundamentals - sampling, bit resolution, spectral analysis, transfer function calculations, filtering and convolution
- · Experienced with running FEM model of transducer or room acoustics using Comsol, Actran or similar packages
- · Experienced with writing Matlab or Python scripts for acoustic testing and data analysis
- · Experienced with acoustic measurement instruments - free field microphones, binaural manikins, mouth simulators etc.
- · Experienced with audio data acquisition and analysis systems such as Lab View, Audio Precision, SoundCheck etc.
- · Understanding of analog/digital MEMS microphone specs - SNR, AOP, sensitivity etc.
- · Understanding of differences and advantages of ECM vs. MEMS microphones
- · Understanding of noise environments, specifically relating to the automotive market – road noise, HVAC noise, wind noise, wind buffeting, etc.
- · Master's or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- · Track record of inventing new acoustic design for speakers, headphones or microphone array applications
- · Experience working on high volume consumer electronics
- · Writing and / or contributing to automotive acoustic industry specifications
