Hardware Designer

You will work as a member of the hardware development team in our Optics R&D Center in Milano/Vimercate. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  • Support the definition of HW architecture of synchronization and timing functions within optical transmission systems
  • Develop hardware applications from conception to testing, covering the following aspects: system architecture, mechanics, electronic cards, programmable components, power distribution
  • Design of programmable logic devices
  • Produce hardware specifications
  • Schematic entry of electronic cards
  • Perform unitary tests
  • Define factory tests for volume production
  • Write test reports summarizing findings and recommendations
  • Evaluate and select appropriate measurement instruments together with measurement equipment vendors
  • Support System Test and Test Engineering
  • Participate in reviews of pertinent PLM and R&D documents (feature specifications, requirements, etc)
  • Support Investigations of Customer and Field issues
  • Collaborate with teams in international Nokia locations.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master Degree in Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering
  • Experience with digital and analog electrical design techniques and control-loop concepts, especially related to PLL and Servo design and implementation (hardware and/or firmware based) and high-performance clock-distribution.
  • Experience with measurement equipment for synchronization and timing
  • Solid understanding of synchronization and timing terms (Clock accuracy, Jitter, Wander, Noise generation and transfer, MTIE and TDEV, SyncE, PTP, ToD, PPS, transmission path latency and minimization of latency asymmetry)
  • Knowledge of simulation tools and languages for electrical design (e.g. PSPICE, VHDL) and for signal integrity
  • Knowledge of electrical design and layout tools
  • Knowledge scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills
  • Italian & English fluently spoken and written
  • Strong interest and ability to in collaboration with international partners
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivated and highly organized methodologies
  • Personal flexibility and agility to provide high quality results in challenging environment.
