The Software Security Engineer II will play a key role driving efforts to improve security in the sovereign cloud environment. This includes working with teams throughout the organization to identify and address security vulnerabilities and compliance issues and to educate users about security best practices. You will leverage your software development experience to design and implement solutions to security challenges in the Azure environment.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience identifying security vulnerabilities, cyber security, and/or cloud environments.

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customerscreening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in identifying security vulnerabilities, software development, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, and anomaly detection
  • Demonstrated impact in Software Development, DevOps, Penetration Testing, Security Testing, Purple Teaming, or related field.
  • Experience with Secure Software Development practices
  • Experience developing applications and services in a cloud computing environment
  • Coding skills, in any of the following languages: C#, Python, C++, Go, PowerShell, ASP.NET, JavaScript
  • OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), OSCE (Offensive Security Certified Expert), GSEC, or similar certifications

Responsiblitities

  • Develop tools and techniques to scale and accelerate security operations, vulnerability discovery, and security offerings.
  • Leverage a broad and current understanding of security to devise and develop new protections and software security solutions.
  • Work with security engineers to understand security findings, automate detection techniques, and develop tools and strategies for remediation.
  • Design, build, and maintain Azure services that support the team’s security mission.
    Conduct ad hoc and prescriptive threat modeling and security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the architecture of applications and services.
  • Work with and assist other team members, external test teams, and pen testers at Microsoft in techniques and approaches to assess our environments.
  • Work as part of an on-call rotation and contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously.
