Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) is responsible for enabling and optimizing the end-to-end customer journey on the Microsoft Cloud. C+E’s Commerce Financial Services (CFS) team is responsible for Financial Platforms, Global Payments & Cash, Employee Financial Experiences, and C+E Governance, and also develops and operates financial commerce platforms and tools that perform all revenue management functions for our customers, partners, and staff worldwide.As a Software Engineering Manager on the C+E Governance Compliance Team, you will have the opportunity to help enable organizations to create amazing software and achieve more by continuously improving their engineering in a compliant manner. Your emphasis will be to build and integrate features for the platform of the service, its administration, and operations.You will report to a Principal PM Engineering Manager, where you will find yourself amongst a team that models a culture of inclusion, that supports you in working from a location where you do your best work, whether from the office or home. We value remote execution and collaboration skills, in addition to the solid technical, engineering, and leadership acumen you will bring.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience

Abilityto meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirementsrequired for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • requiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance/Accounting, Mathematics
    • OR related engineering sciences or technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years people management experience.
  • 1 + years of experience with working knowledge of compliance and regulatory artifacts, audits and customer research to validate project priorities and direction, with an emphasis on full stack analysis and development agility with an understanding of Microsoft finance systems, processes and organizations/ecosystem
  • 1 + years of experience shipping a regulatory-focused service and designing Secure Azure features end-to-end
  • 1 + years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes Containers
  • 1 + years of experience developing for large enterprise-scale projects; using software engineering best practices such as agile and dev-ops methodologies and familiarity with Git and containers, and CICD practices.

Responsibilities
  • Coaches and supports partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within teams.
  • Coaches teams and drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Coaches team members within the team in producing extensible and maintainable code.
  • Coaches team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers).
  • Coaches others and acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers across products, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.
