As the Business Strategy Manager you will be tasked with leading analytics and insights to drive strategic and operational planning in support of key growth targets owned by PE&I and HLS executive leadership. You will be tasked with identifying opportunities to create new, or improve analytic packages to drive insights that sustain growth of the business (i.e., growth initiatives, progress against new market penetration, analysis of new partners, voice of the customer research) You will be instrumental in guiding business decisions based on data and analysis. Success in this role will require taking an analytical, resourceful, and organized approach to all problem solving, coupled with an ability to influence and successfully navigate through interpersonal dynamics. You will serve as a connection point across the entire portfolio, and as the connector from the team to internal and external partners, communicating insights in briefs, presentations or other leaders to ensure a common awareness of the current landscape.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 3+ years strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR equivalent experience

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field AND 6+ years strategy, business planning, consulting, and/or partner organization experience
    • OR equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years experience in Strategy or Management Consulting focused in Healthcare
  • 2+ years experience performing financial modeling or data analytics
  • 2+ years Healthcare experience
  • Ability to communicate at an executive level through visual, written, and verbal communication within a global context, technical and non‐technical
  • Ability to navigate, influence, and build trust across a broad set of cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with clinical documentation, coding, quality reporting, and/or revenue cycle management
  • Demonstrate strategic framing skills to create alignment between engineering, product marketing, and business owners
  • Deliver results and demonstrate good judgment, personal accountability, and high integrity
  • Work independently and effectively as part of a broad team, and drive successful outcomes with virtual teams

Research, Analysis & Framing

  • Conducts market-based research by collecting and interpreting information (e.g., financial statements, reports, analyses, stakeholder feedback, calls) including researching existing business and identifying new spaces for Microsoft
  • Conducts analyses (e.g., financial modeling) and leverages analyses of others to synthesize solutions to key business problems
  • Creates initial framing for strategic questions with limited input and delivers structured output from analyses
    • Creates & distributes frameworks and methodologies to drive problem solving and insights across the team
  • Develops a deep understanding of the HLS product portfolio, strategic priorities, product position gaps, and potential opportunities
  • Execution of business processes which rely on aggregation, summarization, and reporting of data from various sources

Financial Modeling

  • Develops a financial modeling framework to inform potential partner deal terms, identify divestiture value & costs, and define the latent value of existing assets
  • Supports evaluation of Microsoft strategic alternatives (e.g., buy, build, partner), including evaluating Independent Service Providers (ISVs) of interest and other acquisition alternatives
  • Reviews and provides guidance to finance teams in developing and refining financial forecasts and related analyses
  • Provides perspective on targets including prospects, price expectations, returns, alternatives, potential interlopers, and key decision makers

Problem Solving & Insights

  • Synthesizes findings into insights across projects, including implications that inform business decisions, leveraging executive presence to influence decisions and proactively identifying expansive ideas for company strategy, often missed by others
  • Structures ambiguous situations into a defined project, including identification root causes, testing of hypothesis, and proposal & implementation propose and implement of solutions
  • Evaluates current state business operations to identify issues limiting growth, and develop solutions to remove barriers for scale
  • Leverages insights to develop recommendations and seeks to provide thought leadership (e.g., trend identification, implications of competitor moves) around potential future growth opportunities and strategic issues for HLS

Communication

  • Communicates and advocates insights to business leaders (e.g., Corporate Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors) and conveys viewpoints through written documents (e.g., memos, reports) and influence models (e.g., meetings, presentations)
  • Builds end-to-end storylines with limited directions, leveraging data to demonstrate measurable outcomes of work
  • Delivers project findings recommendations, and implications to executives to facilitate discussions and decision making

Stakeholder Management

  • Establishes and maintains key points of contact with internal teams from Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Corporate Development, and Corporate Strategy
  • Contributes to large Strategy projects and manages small projects with guidance from directors as needed, leveraging team resources and less experienced colleagues
