What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start around August 2024 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through December 2024) or into Spring 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

What You’ll Do

Electrode Equipment Engineering

  • Intern to contribute to the development and improvement of new automation equipment and assembly lines for our advanced cell manufacturing equipment for our Energy Batteries. They will be responsible for validation and characterization of new/current equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor.

Equipment Design Development Engineering

  • Intern will support senior engineers in the dry electrode AIO lines (cal-lam and slitter). They will be involved in process development, equipment characterization, equipment design, and documentation for electrode equipment development of cell manufacturing.

Equipment Production Engineering

  • Production Engineer Intern will work cross-functional teams with Process, Controls and Quality Engineers to support the continuous improvement process to maintain a high throughput with high quality, identifying and improve potentials failures in the process. They will apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.

Equipment Engineering

  • Intern will support senior engineers in the dry electrode AIO lines (cal-lam and slitter). They will be involved in process development, equipment characterization, equipment design, and documentation for equipment handoff.

Mechanical Engineering

  • Intern will work on cross functional teams with PM, Controls, manufacturing, and technicians to support and troubleshoot new and existing mechanical designs. They will prepare 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, mechanical BOMs, safety documentation and various parts lists for use by other teams. They will also support mechanical builds, proof of principle assemblies and production machinery.
What You’ll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, or a relevant field
  • Experience in 3D CAD, PLC Programming and drawings skills in SolidWorks
  • Strong skills in MS Excel or Minitab, or working knowledge in Python, SQL, JMP
